Service Description
The Future Quals Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) course in the UK prepares learners for a vital role in emergency and urgent care, focusing on practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Course Overview The AAP course is designed for individuals aiming to work as Associate Ambulance Practitioners within the ambulance service. This qualification is nationally recognised and allows practitioners to assess, treat, and manage patients effectively, often reducing the need for hospital admissions. The course typically includes both classroom learning and practical training in collaboration with ambulance services. Key Components The course is 12 weeks of classroom learning followed by 750 hours of mentored practice placement. There are workbooks to complete for this qualification. The curriculum covers essential topics such as anatomy, physiology, emergency care protocols, and patient management strategies. Learners will also develop skills in communication and problem-solving within the healthcare context. Assessment: Students are evaluated through practical assessments, exams, and completion of clinical hours under supervision. Entry Requirements You must evidence you have met minimum core skills in literacy and numeracy. The minimum grade is a level 4/C in GCSEs or a key skills pass. You are required to have a good understanding of ICT as you will be required to complete course work electronically. You must not have any outstanding court cases, prosecutions or pending disciplinary action being bought against you. You must poses the right values, behaviours and attributes appropriate to the role. To enrol in the AAP course, candidates typically need to have prior experience in a healthcare role, such as an Emergency Care Assistant. The CERAD course is not included in this training program and may be required at a later date to work on frontline contracts.
